The SOX tax

Since the passage of SOX in 2002, companies have complained about the legislation designed to help restore investor confidence in the wake of accounting scandals at Enron and WorldCom. The source of many complaints is Section 404, which requires companies to attest to the effectiveness of internal controls to safeguard systems and processes related to financial reporting. New Zealand sites vulnerable to Google hacking

Skype buys VoIP technology companies

Skype Tuesday announced it has acquired Internet voice technology company Sonorit Holding and its U.S. subsidiary, Camino Networks, for about $27 million in eBay stock. For more click here.

Florida county Web site serves up sensitive information

The Social Security numbers, driver’s license information and bank account details belonging to potentially millions of current and former residents in Florida’s Broward County are available to anyone on the Internet because sensitive information has not been redacted from public records being posted on the county’s Web site.
