* Novell SecureLogin enhanced
endif; ?>Old acquaintance Tommy Cathey, who used to be with Houston’s Blue Lance, dropped me a note the other day to let me know he’s now at ActivIdentity, where he’s the business manager for the Novell product line (ActivIdentity was formerly known as ActivCard.)
Cathey wanted to let me know that there’s a new version of Novell SecureLogin for ActivIdentity. That’s good news, so I’d thought I would pass it on to you. ActivCard (like Blue Lance) was an early supporter of eDirectory/NDS and has been a good and faithful partner of Novell’s for many years.
Novell SecureLogin 6 is a co-branded version of ActivIdentity’s SecureLogin 6. See “ActivIdentity shows off smart card integration among other product updates” for my initial reaction to the product launch. But, to summarize, Novell SecureLogin includes the following new and enhanced features:
* Provides single login to thousands of applications, such as those for Web pages, Windows applications, Java applications and terminal emulators.
* Runs on Novell eDirectory, Active Directory, Microsoft ADAM Directory and other LDAP v3 directories.
* Runs on stand-alone mode.
* Centralizes administration.
* Uses AES encryption.
* Supports Swing and AWT-based Java applications and applets.
* Works with multiple clients and pure LDAP.
* Locks workstations, closes applications and logs out users based on policy.
* Enforces policies on eDirectory LDAP passwords.
* Enables fast, event-driven login/logout.
* Integrates with smart cards for multifactor authentication.
Upgrades from earlier versions of Novell SecureLogin list for $39 while new licenses run $79 each. Quantity discounts are negotiable and, of course, your Novell volume licensing agreements could lower the price you’ll pay. Current licenses of SecureLogin 3.x with maintenance agreements can get Version 6 for no charge.
Novell SecureLogin can improve the effectiveness (and/or lower the cost) of your helpdesk by streamlining credential management. At the same time, it can be an important part of your regulatory compliance tool kit. It’s a proven product with no downside – take a look today.
