New Treo delivers Nirvana

Palm Treo 700p, by Sprint, about $400 (after rebates and agreement, plus monthly service). Verizon Wireless offers the 700p for a similar price, with varying data network service plans. After testing the 700p (the Sprint version) for a few weeks, I can truly say that the smart-phone is the culmination of the “converged device” that many of us have been dreaming about – and vendors have been promising – for years.

Dell launches new XPS systems

Dell today launched three new PC systems in its XPS high-performance line, including a 20-inch widescreen “entertainment PC,” a redesigned gaming desktop system and a new ultramobile notebook computer. The company also announced a new widescreen flat-panel monitor.

Linksys launches wireless network camera

Linksys today announced availability of its new Wireless-G Pan/Tilt/Zoom Internet Camera with audio (model WVC200). Aimed at small business and small office, home office users, the camera can send live video and audio over the Internet and can be accessed through any Web browser. The camera, part of the Linksys Business Series of products, is now available for $299.99 through Linksys distribution, online resellers and VARs.

Sprint supports new BlackBerry devices

Sprint and Research in Motion today announced the BlackBerry 7130e from Sprint, which works on Sprint’s Power Vision Network (CDMA EV-DO, provides an average of 400Kbps to 700Kbps, with up to 2Mbps bursts). The $199.99 device (after discounts and promotions) is now available at Sprint Stores, business sales channels and online.

Digital Deck readies home entertainment system

This week, Digital Deck announced that its Media Connector and Software are available for purchase through its Web site, with products available to resellers by the end of Q2 2006.
