You’ve got to read this bizarre story that keeps getting more bizarre as we get more information. Cisco and ISS were supposed to give a demo this week on a particular way to hack IOS – but Cisco suddenly nixed the idea and even sent folks with razor blades to the conference to cut the presentation out of the conference materials. Then the ISS guy who was told not to give the demo went ahead and did it anyway. He was fired. And then there’s the whole question of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s involvement in all this. Lenovo leads effort to build 1,000 TFLOPS supercomputer

China’s Lenovo Group has begun work on a project to build a computer that is nearly 10 times more powerful than the world’s fastest supercomputer, a company spokeswoman confirmed Thursday.

Layoffs redux: CA cuts another 5% of staff

Computer Associates  plans to cut 800 positions worldwide, around 5% of its workforce, in a restructuring effort aimed at saving $75 million annually. CA will finish most of the worldwide layoffs by the end of 2005, the company said.
