* Network World IT Video and Network World IT Roadmap Conference & Expo
endif; ?>For IT education I have to say, you just can’t beat Network World (and I say that not just because I work here!. After spending only minutes at NetworkWorld.com I was astounded by the amount of educational material that’s available to our readers – from white papers, to technology research centers to product tests and technology primers. Last week, we added to the wealth of material with the launch of Network World IT Video, and announced the addition of Network World IT Roadmap Conference & Expo to our list of educational seminars.
For IT education I have to say, you just can’t beat Network World (and I say that not just because I work here!).
We have brought to the video screen Keith Shaw’s popular Cools Tools column in a series of 5-minute videos in which Keith tests various gizmos. And in Network World’s Hot Seat, Network World President John Gallant puts vendors and industry luminaries through their paces with 5-minute video taped Q&As.
You can check out the videos at the Network World IT Video Web page. Make a point to check back every week, as we’ll be posting a new Cool Tools video every Thursday and a new Hot Seat program every Monday. I particularly enjoyed Keith’s reviews of a CD and DVD shredder and the Sony laptop he used to stay in touch with the office while out enjoying a sneaky hike in the woods. OK, so the Cool Tools videocasts won’t help you pass your Cisco certification exams but they are good for a 5-minute break and some fun and useful info. Meanwhile, the Hot Seat videos will help you understand what new technologies vendors are working on.
If you’ve ever attended one of our single-topic Technology Tours, you know how valuable they are in terms of how deeply they delve into topics such as security, WANs and the new data center. Next year, we’re rolling out a series of IT Roadmap conferences made up of one-day seminars that delve into a number of technologies, not just one. The IT Roadmap Conference & Expo extends the current annual IT Roadmap event, which this year is happening between Nov. 29 and Dec. 8 (see below for more details on this year’s event).
The conference will be staged four times a year in four cities – Boston, Chicago, Dallas and the Bay Area. Each conference explores six topics identified as the highest priorities to network executives as they plan their own IT roadmap. The topics include security, wireless and mobility, WAN/application acceleration, storage and servers, VoIP and collaboration, and network management. In addition to presentations by industry experts, there will be an end-user panel of Network World All-Star Award Winners – network IT end-users who have implemented major problem-solving technologies – talking about their architectures and selection criteria.
The first IT Roadmap Conference & Expo launches March 20 in Boston. For a complete calendar of Network World Live events, visit the events Web site.
We’ll be taking a break next week to celebrate Thanksgiving but we’ll be back the week after. I wish you and your family a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday.
