* HyBlue service monitors networks of small businesses
Seattle start-up HyBlue is looking to help small companies get the benefits of proactive network management without having to invest the cash or the time needed to get enterprise-scale products running.
Network managers can download HyBlue’s software to managed devices and can start monitoring services via HyBlue’s network operations center. While HyBlue says it expects its service to appeal to smaller companies, the monitoring technology could also be used to detect problems on remote servers or workstations in branch offices.
HyBlue CEO Matthew Sutton worked for more than 30 years in network management and found that IT professionals for smaller companies need a cost-effective alternative to big management frameworks and hands-on maintenance in remote offices.
“We have focused in on Windows servers and workstations because we know that’s a real pain point for smaller companies,” Sutton says. “We want to provide more than reactive alerts. We fine-tuned our software to provide a proactive service, to let customers know before a server is down.”
HyBlue’s Expert System requires customers download software onto managed devices and then connect to HyBlue’s NOC via an SSL link. The software monitors the software and hardware in real time, sending data back to HyBlue’s NOC. The service lets customer save up to one year of data, and customers can access reports and view real-time monitoring statistics via a secure customer portal.
The company charges $100 per month per monitored server and $10 per month per monitored desktop. Pricing may vary based on reseller prices.
