The week winds down with a few acquisition announcements. In yesterday’s newsletter we told you about McAfee buying Wireless Security Corp. Later that day came the news of Sun acquiring StorageTek for $4.1 billion in order to beef up its storage and data management portfolio. Following that we learned that Citrix Systems had agreed to buy NetScaler for $300 million in cash and stock. CA details sophisticated Web attack
A new “sophisticated” attack that uses three pieces of malware to turn PCs into zombies that can be sold to criminal groups has appeared on the Internet this week, security vendor Computer Associates said Thursday.

Yahoo and Cisco combine their anti-spam technologies
Yahoo and Cisco this week announced they are combining their anti-spam technologies to create a new e-mail authentication system. The system, called DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), will draw on Yahoo’s DomainKeys authentication technology and Cisco’s Internet Identified Mail. The technology will be offered to other industry players on a royalty-free basis in an effort to reduce the amount of spam spread across the Internet, the companies said.
