Got a call from Lance Boecker of TekSystems. A position opened up at a major credit union. A Cisco CCIE is leaving and the company feels it doesn’t need someone with that level of certification. (I have CCNA certification.) He is going to try to get more details.
We both agreed that the job description looks to be asking for a jack of all trades. Hope to hear something later today on this as well as the two other positions that I have either been interviewed for or been pitched to the client on.
Got a call back from the engineering company that I interviewed with last Friday. The manager wanted to give me a heads up that I would be called back in for a second interview.
He is still coordinating the availability of all who would be in the interview and would get back with me later in the day to see what times would work best for all concerned.
Had a call back later in the day from Lance Boecker about the credit union job. The skillset being looked for by the client has been firmed up and it is a pretty good match for me. They are still waiting to hear on the salary and type of employment situation (direct hire, contract to hire, etc) and he will get back with me to see what the next step is.
Got an email from Karen King at Favorite Health Staffing. She asked if I had any storage area experience. I responded that I had worked with setting up a small SAN from Left Hand Networks at one employer and was involved from the ground up at another employer with a Compaq/Digital RA12000 SAN involving dual cabinets, dual fiber hubs and dual fiber switch fabrics in both cabinets. Each of the servers also had dual HBAs for full redundancy/high availability.
Got a couple of emails from Terry Jones at Allied Global Services about a Cisco Network Engineer position that I had applied for via CareerBuilder with them. Emailed word and PDFversions of my resume and went to the Website to fill out an online form. Hope to talk to Terry tomorrow.
Had a talk with the manager at the engineering firm about my second interview. Set a time on Thursday to meet with him. I was told that I would be interviewing with a total of five people at once. Although his director wasn’t available, a counterpart at that level would be in the interview. I would be talking with the head of personnel and another couple of groups.
If I were to be hired, these would also be the same people that I would be working closely with on day to day operations.
