Here is something that just hasn’t sat right in my stomach for a long time now. In general, I have always failed to see how or why we needed to bypass the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) which provided a perfectly good process for the government to conduct surveillance of US citizens. So… when I continue to see headlines that state things like:
- “House aims to scrutinize warrantless taps“
- “Administration Has Not Made the Case for Telecom Immunity“
- “House Dems Proposing Commission to Investigate Warrantless Spying, Still Reject Amnesty“
It just blows me away that we A) have even allowed this to happen and B) are even fighting over something that shouldn’t have happened to begin with. After all, last time I checked, we didn’t live in a military dictatorship. The thought that this silliness even occurs makes my spidey senses tingle in relation to privacy rights and big brother.
What do all of you in think?
