Day 22

Went through two online “Brainbench” exams for TekSystems, as requested by the client company whose position I am being considered for.

Did better on the Windows 2003 exam than I did on the Windows 2000 exam, but scored “Proficient” on both exams. This information will be forwarded to the client company. Lance called after he got the exam scores and indicated that I had scored better than several folks he had dealt with lately.

Got a call from US Central Credit Union HR department. They were calling in response to my application for their Network Engineer III position.

Talked with them briefly. Made sure they understood that I had done my research on them, and went over my credit union and financial services background. I have a phone interview with them tomorrow that should last about a half an hour.

Haven’t heard anything from the engineering firm. Based on their last call, I was supposed to hear something either way on Tuesday or Wednesday. Since there was a person out sick who needed to be in the conversation, it is possible that he/she hasn’t been back in the office yet. The benefits offered with that position are the best that I have seen so far.

No new positions found on the job boards this morning. Will check again this afternoon.

Got a call from the engineering firm. The position was offered to someone else. It was a close situation, but apparently I didnt have enough of what they were looking for. However, the manager did something nice that I wouldn’t have expected. He offered to forward my resume on to someone at another company who used to work for him and now had a management position elsewhere. I also appreciated a callback, even though I didn’t get the position.
