The book has been called a very heavy bookmark, a technical bible for the software, and a monster (because its over 1400 page with the index), among other things. It is so big they can only fit 8 copies in a standard size shipping box! The book represents about 10 months of hard work – seems like more though – by myself and Cameron Fuller, John Joyner, and Andy Dominey. Andy is actually a contributing author and joined the project last summer; the book wouldn’t have been the same without him! In fact, the list of people I’d like to thank is fairly long … but it’s in the first section of the book, and you know who you are.
And I must be a glutton for punishment – I was asked to write a book on Configuration Manager 2007 for the Unleashed series, so here I go again … Working with me on this new project are Byron Holt, Rod Trent of myITforum.com, and Pete Zerger (systemcenterforum.org). Look forward to a complete set of information including why configuration management is important, the underlying architecture, planning, installing, configuring, software deployment, reporting and of course troubleshooting.
