Cisco updated its so-called Self-Defending Network portfolio, which includes the addition of content filtering software from Trend Micro to Cisco’s Integrated Services Routers, and enhancements to Cisco’s endpoint defense, firewalls, intrusion prevention, and router security capabilities.
Cisco added Cisco IPS Manager Express to its Cisco IPS 6.1 product. IPS Manager Express is an all-in-one application for IPS provisioning, monitoring, and reporting, according to the Cisco news release. Cisco also unveiled an IPS module for its Adaptive Security Appliances that perform up to 650Mbps to protect unified communication services.
Cisco is incorporating its Group Encrypted Transport Virtual Private Network (GET VPN) technology into the Cisco 7200 VPN Services Adapter, generating performance improvements of as much as 300%, according to the network giant.
Cisco Firewall Service Module 4.0 (for switches) enables high-volume traffic, such as large data backups or bulk data transfers to be whizzed through at 20Gbps to 50Gbps.
Cisco claims Cisco Security Agent 6.0 is the first endpoint security offering that integrates day-zero attack defense, data-loss prevention, and signature-based antivirus detection.
Cisco Web Application Firewall is aimed at protecting customer and corporate information within Web 2.0 applications. It’s available as a standalone appliance or integrated into the Cisco Application Control Engine (ACE) XML Gateway.
As expected, Cisco has added content filtering from Trend Micro to its Integrated Services Routers. This relationship continues to beg the question: where does this leave the content filtering capabilities of Cisco acquisition IronPort.
Cisco added Session Initiation Protocol protection to its IOS Firewall with voice security.
Version 6.0 of Cisco Security Monitoring Analysis Response System (MARS) adds a new device-support development framework that enables users or third parties to incorporate non-Cisco devices within a Cisco Security MARS deployment.
Finally Cisco Security Manager 3.2 features tighter integration and collaboration with security event data from Cisco Security MARS.
