As I mentioned last week… yesterday I went to the RSA Conference. Believe it or not, this was my first time. Hard to image considering, I’m kind of into security, and I happen to live in the SF Bay area. Anyhow, this blog is the first of a series of blogs that I plan on writing about my experience at the conference. I would have kicked this off yesterday evening, but I got home a bit late (free boozes does that), and I made it a point not to bring my notebook, and I had a PKI thingy today. So… let’s get this show on the road.
Sterling
As you may have heard, Microsoft decided to release the “Sterling” beta to the public on Tuesday. In summary, “Sterling” or the next generation Forefront, is aimed a finally making good on Microsoft’s promise of end-to-end security solutions that just work. To achieve this lofty goal, Microsoft is stitching together or “unifying” their security offerings for endpoint, messaging, collaboration, and edge. At this point… you are probably wondering what my opinion is. Well… I haven’t formed one yet. Forefront and I have had a rough past (Mostly, because Microsoft made it as confusing as possible). So, to get at the meat of it, I will really need to sit down and play with the beta. Additionally, I’ve asked to be added to the TAP so that I can submit feedback and get insight into changes that are coming down the pipe with the beta.
