Day 37
Had a phone interview with the client that Jeff Bluitt from Paige Tech LLC had connected me with. It ended up the interview was with more than the hiring manager. On the phone in addition to the hiring manager were two other folks from the department.
We went over what I had done at the previous two positions. The hiring manager talked about some projects they had on the schedule at this point and asked what kind of experience I had in those areas.
After 45 minutes, the interview was brought to a close and I was put on hold for a moment. When the hiring manager came back on the line, I was asked to come in for a face-to-face interview. The process will take about 2 hours, starting out with talking to the hiring manager’s boss. We agreed on a time of 12:30 tomorrow.
Called Bluitt to let him know how things went.
Got a call from Justin Stancil with Modis IT. He asked if I was interested in a Network Architect position. Once he told me it was with the company that Jeff Bluitt at Paige Tech LLC had talked to me about, I stopped him and advised him that I had already talked to the client this morning.
Justin said he still wanted to meet me as they are working with several other clients in the area and he would like to get an idea of where I would best be a fit for current and future openings. I will meet with him after the onsite interview with the client that Paige Tech LLC is representing.
Found a position on CareerBuilder that I was qualified for. Applied for the position. Nothing new on the other job boards.
Finally got things straightened out with the State Unemployment Office so that I can file for unemployment benefits. Seems that my previous employer had incorrectly filed paperwork and had Unemployment Offices in two states confused with who I would need to work with.
It will be a couple of weeks before I get the first check but that will help with paying the health insurance that I now have. Elected to get an individual policy from the local Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate instead of going with the prohibitively expensive COBRA insurance.
