Day 39

Went to a job fair today supposedly held/sponsored by Monster.com. The email I got on Friday reminding me of the event said to bring at least 20 copies of my resume and listed the job fields that companies would be present to talk to people about. This event was a disaster for not just myself but others who showed up for it. There were less than 12 companies present. The only jobs they were interviewing for were entry level positions such as a pest exterminator, convenience store clerk, insurance sales, etc. I talked to several folks that went to the job fair for same reason I did and walked away very disappointed. They also had a much different impression of what would be at the job fair. For so few companies to be present, it really wasnt worth the time to go to.

I had a long phone call from the president of a company that I had worked for several years ago. We had kept in touch over the years after I left them. They have a possible contract situation coming up that I was the first person she thought of. We talked for over an hour about this and a few other business possibilities that she is working on.

With the price of gas at this point, which I don’t see going down for a long time, if it ever goes down, being able to work from home would be a nice option to have. Will see how this one works out.
