Day 44
Had my interview with Deborah Hammack from Cornerstones. Had about an hour long “preliminary” interview with her and a representative from the technical committee. This is a supervisory position where I will have six direct reports. There are several major projects that are tentatively on the calendar for the next year.
After the first part of the interview, I got a quick tour of the departmental area, as well as meeting all but one of the folks who would be reporting to me. I felt a little strange with meeting the folks in the department this early in the process. I was escorted by the individual who would be my assistant. Would have thought I would have been isolated from the individuals in the department at this point.
At the end of the first part of the interview, I was asked a multi-part question relating to a situation with multiple events occurring at almost the same time and how I would respond to it. Took notes on that question as they gave it to me and referred back to it as I gave my response. Gave my reasoning for each part of the answer as I went along so they could see my thought process. After the first part of the interview, I was set in front a computer where I completed a 20-question essay test on different areas in which they were trying to gauge my experience level. It was definitely an extensive survey of what I knew. Would love to know how I did on it for my own benefit if nothing else.
As I left, I was told that they hoped to have all the candidates interviewed by the end of the week. They weren’t sure if they would be able to tell me by the end of the week or not.
