Drawings and specs for the first Android phone, expected to be available for presale this fall, were published by the Android Guys, kicking up even more enthusiasm for the first-of-its-kind phone. Besides the slide out QWERTY keyboard, the new phone also seems to have a trackball and a couple of other features not previously revealed.
The trackball sits on a tilt at the bottom of the phone, making it easier to use (but probably more difficult to keep in your pocket). The drawings also show that T-Mobile, the carrier for the new phone, is planning to display not only Google’s but also phone maker HTC’s logos on the back. As the post says:
“It tells us that T-Mobile and HTC are using the brand recognition to help sell the handset. It’s also nice to see HTC’s name on the back as this will put them on the map in a major way. They deserve to see a little love for all the other handsets they’ve been pumping out over the years.”
The post also has a link to a huge list of features, which include a dedicated YouTube player and Google StreetView with built-in compass, among others. It looks like Android is fast approaching reality.
