Expect to see Cisco on your TV screens via a series of advertisements for TelePresence and WebEx around the theme of “save more, travel less effect.” One of the ads feature a series of execs in offices giving the often ignored safety spiel cited by flight attendants. The ads will be accompanied by a similar campaign across Cisco’s Web site and other communities, according to Cisco. The company hopes the ads will help get across its message that it is no longer just a switch and routers company.
According to Marilyn Mersereau, Cisco’s SVP marketing, as quoted in Brandweek: “We’re presenting ourselves in the future aspiration of our company and how we play in this broader IT and communication segment . . . and I think we take a broader approach than our competitors.”
Brandweek adds that Cisco’s $79 million media spending is far smaller than the budgets of IBM and HP, which spent $123 million and $248 million respectively last year.
