Cisco packaging collaboration, telepresence as an online service?

Cisco will link its collaborative and telepresence offerings and social networking software into a service

package that it will provide online rather than as a product, writes Tom Nolle, president of consulting firm CIMI Corporation and a Network World columnist. He writes: “This new venture may create some clashes with carrier customers that have their own plans in the area, but we believe Cisco also plans to sell service through carriers, as Microsoft does with its CSF [Connected Services Framework]. This isn’t the first time that pundits have discussed Cisco’s ambitions in software-as-a-service in the cloud.
