So it turns out that ABI Research, which crowned Cisco as the greenest network switching vendor (beating Nortel and HP) has released other reports rating the greeness of vendors in other categories, including Wi-Fi and data center.
Motorola emerged as the winner in ABI’s green Wi-Fi matrix, with Cisco and Siemens following in second and third places, respectively. According to ABI VP Stan Schatt: “Motorola was just a fraction of a point behind Cisco in terms of a vendor’s internal green initiatives but scored high enough on its product features for the overall ‘greenest of the green’ honors.”
In the green data center stakes, HP won out with IBM and Cisco following in second and third places, respectively. ABI notes that Cisco did well in this category despite not having broad data center offerings compared to HP and IBM. According to ABI, IBM has the most extensive list of carbon goals of any vendor.
