Microsoft ‘Stirling’

Microsoft gets security!

Continuing its security onslaught, Microsoft earlier this week announced ‘Stirling’, a new, holistic (my words) security platform for businesses.

This wholly integrated suite will contain the following products:

Forefront Client Security

Forefront for Exchange

Forefront for SharePoint

Forefront Server Management

Microsoft Antigen anti-virus

Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server)

Intelligent Application Gateway

Windows Live OneCare desktop protection

For the enterprise, this product will be a boon to IT managers, as it will allow for a common UI for control of all elements of a network’s security. It will also tie in to Microsoft’s management offerings, and as an added bonus, allow third-party applications to be integrated as well.

If this product platform is properly integrated, and reasonably priced, I believe it will be another win-win for Microsoft Partners, IT managers, developers, and users.

With all of Microsoft’s moves in security, I cannot understand why Microsoft still gets diss’ed by some hacks.
