Don Herbert, TV’s “Mr. Wizard” in the ’50s and ’60s, died Tuesday at the age of 89.
While I am old enough to have been a viewer, I was never a “Mr. Wizard” child, but a colleague says: “For people of a certain age, it was the Geek Experience at the Dawn of Television. … I still remember the demonstration of hundreds of ping-pong balls set up on mousetraps. Had to do with how atoms or atomic particles behave, I think.”
