That would be the fake Steve Jobs (FSJ), not the fellow hawking those fancy-pants phones on every street corner.
On his popular blog today, FSJ reports that some iPhones have been experiencing a wee bit of a battery problem that brings to mind January’s three-ring circus starring a Sony mobile phone, a flop-house blaze and a flip-flopping fire investigator.
FSJ brings us a photograph of an automobile completely engulfed in flames, yet he assures customers there is nothing about which they should be concerned (which you can believe because he’s making it up):
Not to fear. Any units that have this defect will be replaced. If you feel your phone starting to get hot, just bring it in to the store and stay calm. Don’t make a big deal about it. Don’t scream or raise your voice or otherwise harsh the vibe. Just come in, speak quietly to a genius, and we’ll slide you a new one. Okay? Everything’s gonna be cool as long as nobody panics.
FSJ is clearly much funnier than the real deal. Further evidence of this fact is provided in an interview conducted by CNET with FSJ that also posted today.
Q: I’m curious as to your take on how the iPhone is being received by the public and the media so far.
Fake Steve Jobs: Well, I’m glad to see the iPhone getting the acclaim it deserves. The world changed on Friday and I’m really proud of the work we’ve done. I think it just shows that the public is a lot smarter than we often think. They know quality when they see it. When all those people lined up for a product that they didn’t need to line up for, I think that spoke volumes about the kind of people we’re reaching out to with the iPhone. And when I saw photos of Mexicans climbing the fence to get into the U.S. and buy iPhones over the weekend, well, I’ll be honest, I cried.
We also get FSJ’s way-too-candid views on Bill Gates, AT&T, and, of course Woz. … I’ll be honest, I almost cried.
