Analysis
Jul 3, 20072 mins

Our e-mail system almost buckled under the weight of the number of entries to win a free download of Cisco Press’ CCNP Quick Reference Sheets Bundle, Sadly, we only had 10 downloads to give away, and the winners have been selected and notified. Before the roll call of winners, here is the question and answer to last month’s Cisco Subnet Author Expert book giveaway:

QUESTION: The IEEE Standards Association recently approved a standard for backplane Ethernet. The standard specifies how network equipment makers can transmit Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet up to 1 meter over backplanes of modular, chassis-based platforms used in enterprise networks and data centers. WHAT WILL BE THE NAME OF THE STANDARD?

ANSWER: 802.3ap (see the story here).

Here are the winners:

Andrew Kwan; David Stevenson; Maurie Reed; Doug Gartrell; Cliff Becker; Maggie Ma; Kenny Kerns; Marilyn Wons; Jennifer Boylan; and Kyle Wacker.

Congratulations to the winners. And thanks also to you, if you entered to win.
