It’s Cisco’s year end – are you making the most of it?

Remember when newspapers referred to IBM as the industry bellwether? That job now belongs to Cisco, and financial analysts are saying that U.S. corporate spending on Cisco networking gear is rebounding during its fiscal fourth quarter, after shrugging off fears of a downslide last quarter. But ‘steady’ is the word on the Street, as opposed to a crazy hike in revenue.

According to a story in Investor’s Business Daily:

The company is expected to report per-share profit of 35 cents, up from 30 cents in the year-earlier quarter, according to the consensus estimate of 23 brokers polled by Thomson Financial. They expect sales to rise 16% to $9.29 billion.

One analyst is quoted as saying:

“Their sales force is pretty heavily incentivized to sort of goose the numbers.”

You know what to do – haggle like crazy because your Cisco sales rep really wants that sale to finish off the year.
