Microsoft has hired some a well known lobbyist to help it in its battle with Google in the online advertising market, according to the Digital Daily blog, written by John Packowski. He cites a public-disclosure filing with the U.S. Senate. The law firm will argue that the Google-DoubleClick merger is anti-competitive and will harm the advertising market.
Google, for its part, has a star-studded cast of antitrust/lobbyist lawyers on retainer to guide the search-engine giant through the antitrust issues.Google-DoubleClick will be a powerful pair, no doubt. Perhaps so powerful that Microsoft’s anti-trust claims are meaningful – never mind that they come from a source who would directly benefit if the merger were to go afoul.
