Brad Reese’s blog about the $2.3 million home lab of Scott Morris, quadruple CCIE is one of Cisco Subnet’s best-read blog entries yet. It attracted a whole bundle of responses from people who gave positive compliments to the (mostly) negative that-lab-isn’t-worth-a-bean-type of comment.
So we are giving our readers a chance to show us how they can do better. We’re asking you to put your money where your mouth is and send us a short description, along with a photo, of your home lab. We’ll give out some fabulous prizes to the top three home labs as chosen by our judges, and we’ll send runner-up prizes to 10 other readers who deserve a mention.
Your lab doesn’t have to be worth $2.3 million; just something that serves you very well. You will be judged on the configuration of your lab, how it looks, how it works, the type of components included, and extra points will be given for poise and elegance.

Participants are required to post their entries as “replies” to this post.
1. Participants will need to register free for an account at Networkworld.com Community, in order to post their entries. If you already have an account with us, you can skip this part.
2. Once you’ve registered, please post up a ‘reply’ to this blog entry with a short description of your home lab. Include details of the configuration, equipment included, and purpose of the lab. Be sure to include your name with your post (anonymous postings will be rejected, screen names are OK, as long as you have registered with NWW Community).
3. You will not be able to post a picture of your lab along with your description, so please e-mail the picture (one picture only in .jpg format) to Cisco Subnet Editor Linda Leung (lleung@nww.com), and we’ll post up the picture in your blog reply. In the e-mail, please include your name and the headline of your blog reply so that we can easily match the picture with the post.
4. In your e-mail, please provide your name, job title, telephone number, and a U.S. mailing address.
5. We will announce the winners here after the close of the competition at a date determined by the judges.
6. Please be honest – only send in pictures of your own home lab to avoid bad karma.
