Cisco VoIP channel partners continue to consolidate

Cisco unified communications partner INX has picked up fellow Cisco Gold Partner Select for $8.5 million. The deal is the latest in consolidation trend among Cisco channel partners, reports ChannelWeb.

The Web site writes that Cisco convergence partners have been snapping each other up with recent deals include Fusion Storm’s acquisition of Technology Services and Integration, and Presidio’s purchase of Solarcom.

Select is based in Canton, Mass., and brings to INX a range of brand name accounts in the Boston area, including Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, John Hancock, and TD Banknorth, reports ChannelWeb.

ChannelWeb quotes Jim Long, chairman and CEO of INX, as saying: “Just being bigger helps win bigger deals. We’ve seen that across the board in all of our regions. A $40 million company [like Select] trying to win a $20 million transaction, it’s just a big deal for them to swallow that transaction. Customers are looking at that, and I think Cisco is looking at that.”
