Cisco is flying the flag for Scotland as it strives to promote the area as an ideal location for the development of new data centers.
Gordon Thomson, cisco director for Ireland and Scotland said companies have a good opportunity to lay down their data center foundations for the next 24 to 36 months.
Thomson cited Scotland’s relatively stable weather and renewable energy sources, including water and wind-power facilities, as attractive propositions.
But according to a story in ZDNet U.K., the influx of new data centers wouldn’t necessarily bring new jobs as fewer personnel are required for modern server facilities.
