Patent Outsourcing?

Opinion

IBM wants to do just that!

Are you kidding?

One of the ‘innovations’ brought to IBM during the Gerstner years was a relentless focus on profitability.

Not inventions.

Profitability, especially through the monetization of the company’s patent portfolio.

No one told them that it was basic research, for which funding was decimated during that reign, that produces patents. But no, profits,

Since that cupboard is now bare, the new thing to do is

a) support Linux ,

b) encapsulate Notes in a very transparent ‘open source’ jacket, and

c) ressurect the failed name Symphony,

d) try this ruse?

What is next?

Patent the drinking of Jolt Cola while working on a computer?

Patent breathing while computing?

What?

Where does this nonsense end?

Thanks for the initial link, Mauricio.
