Where would you like to go this month?

Well, my month of guest blogging is over, and I’ve decided to stick around more permanently. I intend to tackle a new exam topic ever week or two, discuss what’s challenging about it for the exam, give some sample questions, discuss the answers, and really try to spell out some of the gotchas on the Cisco exams. I can and will keep picking the topics – but where do you want to go with it?

For those of you that have been reading this blog consistently since it started last month, you’ll know I like to use surveys to get a quick read on things. The numbers aren’t even close to meaningful as a true scientific survey, but it’s interesting to know the thoughts of others that watch this space. For example, the following survey is the same one posted earlier in September asking whether you were more likely or less likely to take the 2-exam path towards CCNA, now that the first exam has a certification (CCENT) associated with it. So far, about 75% of you responded that you were more likely to start with the ICND1 exam, and get your CCENT, than in the old days. (Here’s a repeat of the survey so you can see the latest stats. Feel free to offer your opinion if you haven’t already.)

Are you more inclined to take the new ICND1 exam today than you were to take the old INTRO exam?

Given the relative popularity of the new CCENT certification, I’ll focus for the next few weeks on some CCENT-related topics. However, I want some input from ya’ll. What would you like to hear about that could be on the ICND1 exam (which gets you the CCENT cert)? I’ll ping you regarding other exams in the coming weeks as well. If you don’t know what’s on the ICND1 exam, then here’s a pointer to Cisco’s exam topics for that exam: https://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/current_exams/640-822.html#examtop. Note that with this survey, you can select more than one item, and you can write in your own ideas.

About which of these CCENT topics would you like to see more discussion?

So, to give ya’ll a few days to respond, I’ll go ahead and start a new discussion Wednesday – maybe on one of the survey topics, and maybe another. I’m leaning towards switch forwarding with port security enabled.
