Cisco ranks India at the top if its growth markets lists and new reports suggest the vendor wants to double revenue from that country to $2 billion from $1 billion last year.
Naresh B. Wadhwa, Cisco India president and country manager is quoted in LiveMint.com, as saying that 5% of Cisco’s global revenue will come from India.
The story cites IDC numbers that say Cisco has a 86% share of the routers and switches market in India, equipment that account for more than 60% of Cisco India’s revenue.
Cisco India has its sights set on the country’s WiMAX market, and interestingly Navini Network – the WiMAX vendor Cisco is reported to be on the brink of purchasing – has a development center in Bangalore.
