Did you know that what world poverty lacked, more than anything else, was its own Web site? Thankfully, Cisco, Google and the U.N. have put an end to that oversight. They’ve built a Web site with a cool Web 2.0 application that lets users browse a map of locations where U.N. anti-poverty programs are in action, reports the San Jose Business Journal. The map shows spots where the U.N. is working on its Millennium Development Goals, which include halving extreme poverty, making sure every child gets a primary education, cutting child mortality by two-thirds, cutting cases of HIV/AIDS and providing more people with safe drinking water.
The Web site also offers data on health, education, malnutrition, women’s equality and other areas that contribute to, or are affected by, poverty.
