If you thought it was difficult to decide when to start deploying pre-standard 802.11n devices in your wireless network, chipmaker Marvell’s announcement that Cisco will likely use its 450Mbps chipset will probably send you back to the drawing board. Marvell’s TopDog 450 802.11n chipset will deliver a 1.5-fold speed improvement and 1.6-fold range improvement over the pre-standard 802.11n devices currently on the market, reports Joanie Wexler in her Wireless Alert newsletter. Cisco won’t comment on component vendors, but Marvell is confident that Cisco will “go with 802.11n across the board.”
