It has been nearly four years since Microsoft released a new version of Office for Macs. So it was no surprise to anyone that today’s launch of Microsoft’s Office 2008 for Mac got top billing in Steve Job’s keynote at the Macworld Expo. In a product review by TheStreet.com’s Gary Krakow, the new version of Office is proclaimed to be blazing fast, on both older Power PCs and Mac’s current Intel-based machines. In fact, he gives the software an overall thumbs up in just about every way.
“Thankfully, Microsoft has kept the famous Office pull-down menus at the top of each page — instead of having to deal with the new Win Office 2007 ‘Ribbon’ feature, which was confusing and an absolute pain to set up.”
Will you purchase the new Office 2008 for Mac? Or will you be going with an open source alternative like NeoOffice or OpenOffice.org?
