Cisco, Juniper enjoy ‘all-time high’ in carrier router, switch sales

Service provider router and switch sales were at an all-time high in 2007, with Cisco and Juniper leading the pack,

according to fresh figures from Infonetics Research. Cisco enjoyed a 20% year-over-year growth of its routers and switches, but Juniper’s growth rate was bigger at 25%. Infonetics attributed the higher sales to content providers offering new on-demand and broadband video services, and local governments around the world, particularly in Amsterdam, Stockholm and Dubai, upgrading their networks to Ethernet FTTH.

If sales to service providers are booming why is it that Cisco’s is ‘extremely challenged’ by the business outlook in the next few quarters?
