Television ad buyers might think this is a swell idea. And some spouses, too — OK, some wives; let’s ditch the PC pretenses.

Most people? Most men? … Not so much.

According to this report, researchers employed by Philips Electronics and based in The Netherlands have applied for a U.S. patent on technology that would prevent television viewers from changing the channel during commercials.

I’ve been sitting here for the past 10 minutes trying to think of something funny to write to conclude this post … and then it dawned on me: There’s nothing funny about this invention.
