Cliff Frost is a lucky network chief. As director of networking at UC Berkeley, he has the school’s famed Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (which developed Unix, BIND, and Smart Dust) as his network test lab.

The school’s WLAN was initially an EECS research project and last year, the department and Frost’s team got to play with alpha and beta Cisco WLAN mesh products.

But like some other network execs, Frost has also suffered his share of network security breaches. Read our Q&A with Frost about shoring up security at UC Berkeley, and what else he learns from the EECS geeks.
