Unisys is working with the University of California at Irvine (UCI) to explore requirement- and rules-driven software.
The systems vendor will work with two academics whose work focus on software testing.
Debra J. Richardson, the Ted and Janice Smith Family Foundation dean of UCI’s Bren School and professor of Informatics, focuses on specification-based testing, integrating formal specification methods and analysis with software testing.
Thomas A. Alspaugh is a professor with the Bren School, who specializes in the software requirements aspect of software engineering, Alspaugh focuses on the use of scenarios and related artifacts to describe and reason about problems and the systems intended to solve them, according to his Web site.
According to Unisys, the collaboration between UCI and the systems vendor is aimed at reinforcing “the critical traceability component of Unisys 3d-VE approach, which is deisnged to enable a client to see and then act on cause-effect relationships among business strategy, processes and IT requirements throughout the enterprise.”
