OK, we’re careening off topic here.
Twenty-plus years I have been seeing this same doctor, a specialist whose medical advice and personal demeanor are unfailingly exemplary.
But 20-plus years of stewing in his waiting room — 30, 45 minutes or longer — is more than I can take. We’re talking every appointment; so consistent is his tardiness that I have learned to bring my own magazines. Yesterday — a full hour past the time on my appointment card — I bid his secretary good-bye and stormed out of the office.
I’m not going back.
Yes, this is a familiar complaint. Yes, doctors can have emergencies that disrupt their schedules. But for the life of me I’ll never understand how these highly trained professionals who are smart enough to get an M.D. after their names can be so thoughtless about the time of their patients.
I just had to vent. … Feeling better now, thanks.
