On Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with John Stewart” on June 21st, Stewart discussed the June 15th Congrassional hearings on video game ratings. It was rather depressing despite being very funny.

A really good summary of the show can be found on The Game Feed. In the segment titled “Player haters” (you can find it on the Daily Show archive page) was a clip of the hearings in which Rep. Fred Upton (R) Michigan declared “I’m a gamer myself. I was an expert in Pong [poop, poop, poop]” (yes, he really did make fey Pong-type noises …). This was followed by clips of other representatives on the panel doing their best to sound ridiculous and ignorant after which Stewart commented: “Seriously, the House of Represntatives is filled with insane jackasses.” To close the segment, correspondent Samantha Bee summed everything up with “Nobody believes there is really a connection (between game violence and real violence). This issue has been resolved in studies. Politicians are just beating a dead hooker here.” Outstanding!
