Mandated security: Yes, and here’s a start

Members of the BuzzBlog Brigade were asked to weigh in on the notion of private property owners being required by regulation or law to secure their wireless networks. Here’s what Howard Stewart had to say:

I think wireless security should be required. At least at some basic level.

If routers (as part of the setup process) all required users to create a key, that would be a good first step.   I like the idea and it seems like a simple solution, but I believe it may be more complicated in reality.

Also I worry that many establishments might have trouble obtaining the security expertise to keep a thumb on all the expert users out there.
