If you want to craft or edit sensitive work documents, don’t use Microsoft Word.
That’s the advice of document security firm Workshare, whose survey says up to 75% of all business documents “contained sensitive information most firms would not want exposed.”
Even if you thought you deleted anything damaging or litigious from a document, thanks to Word’s fantastic editing history records that info’s still accessible to those who know their way around. Workshare recommends the use of the Word add-in Remove Hidden Data.
“Workshare surveyed firms around the world and found that, on average, 31% of documents contained legally sensitive information but in many firms up to three-quarters fell in to the high risk category,” writes the BBC.
