Live 8 tickets have joined organs, souls and virginity on the list of banned auction items on eBay.
Almost immediately after the tickets to the London show were granted to winners via a text message lottery, they began showing up for bid on eBay, angering event organizer Bob Geldof.
“The bottom line is that we’ve listened carefully to our customers over the last few days. Overwhelmingly the voice is that they would like us to take down the listing, so we are going to do our best to do that,” EBay Managing Director Doug McCallum told British media.
Bollocks – you listened to Geldof, who called it “sick profiteering.”
Interestingly, the Live 8 ticket text message lottery was the largest ever, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Two million people entered via texting to win one of the 150,000 tickets.
