Blogs aren’t knocking off the media

CNN offers this headline: “Study: Blogs haven’t displaced media.” We’re dying to amend it to “Study: Blogs haven’t displaced media, says media.” But that’s just us.

Anyway, our pals over at the Pew Internet & American Life Project say despite a lot of hubbub, people (not surprisingly) aren’t tuning out traditional media in favor of Joe Blogger and his views from Mom’s Basement.

“Bloggers follow buzz as much as they make it,” said senior research consultant Michael Cornfield. “Our research uncovered a complicated dynamic in which a hot topic of conversation could originate with the blogs or it could originate with the media or it could originate with the campaigns.
