Here’s your Least Surprising News Story of the Day: Teens love the Internet.
Those busy researchers at the Pew Internet & American Life Project say 9 out of 10 kids ages 12 through 17 are online – up from about 75% in 2000. What is that tenth kid waiting for? He or she is probably the offspring of that lone hold-out dentist in the Trident commercials. Comparatively, the study says 66% of adults use the ‘Net.
A few interesting facts:
- About half of teens who have online access go on the Internet every day, up from 42 percent in 2000.
- 75% of teens surveyed use instant messaging, compared with 42% of online adults who do so.
- About half of the teens have broadband.
