It seems as if Microsoft is trying to deflect some of the Vista virus publicity by saying that compromised scripting language Monad will not ship with Vista, whenevertheheck that rolls out.
Last week an Austrian hacker made worldwide news by quickly cooking up Monad-aided viruses just days after it was released as part of the Vista beta.
Instead, Redmond says Monad will likely be released with the next version of Exchange, “due sometime in the second half of 2006.”
So instead of OS-related viruses we’ll enjoy messaging viruses?
Shortly after releasing the Vista beta, Microsoft also pushed back its release date to sometime in 2010 or so.
Thank God the Redmond folk aren’t OBs:
“Doctor, when is my baby due?”
“Nov. 27, 2005…Oh, wait, it should be out by New Years, Valentine’s Day by the latest.”
In other Vista news, columnist Dave Kearns whacks Microsoft about the Vista release date, and NW tester Tom Henderson gives the Vista beta a whirl.
