As Redmond’s open-source guru, Bill Hilf seems like the Microsoft equivalent of The Maytag Repairman.

Earlier this week we told you Microsoft was leading a session at LinuxWorld, and Hilf was the poor soul who had to suffer the boos and moans from the open source crowd.

Yet it appears he survived as he sat down to talk with NW reporter Jennifer Mears about his unique role at Microsoft, the company’s Linux/open source software lab and Dancin’ Shoes Ballmer’s famous Linux-is-a-cancer statement.
