The New York Times this morning reports that Redmond has explored a number of unholy iterations with Grandma’s favorite ISP:
“Microsoft offered to sell its MSN Internet portal and dial-up subscriber business both to America Online and to Yahoo, according to several people with knowledge of the talks. While Yahoo considered and quickly rejected the proposal, Time Warner, the parent of America Online, expressed interest.”
Redmond is said to have put this on the back burner whilst “considering its strategic position.” No word on whether Ballmer has sacrificed any office furniture in these discussions.
