The feds have arrested eight people in connection with leaking “Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith” to the Internet the day before the movie’s release in May.
Albert Valente, 28, of Lakewood, Calif., has pled guilty to a copyright infringement charge for grabbing a copy of the movie from the post-production house where he worked. Marc Hoaglin, 36, of Huntington Beach, Calif., was charged with putting the film on the Internet, and six others have been charged with copying and distributing the file.
Hoaglin could face three years in jail if convicted, no word on possible sentences for the other defendants. It’s bad enough being sent to jail for copyright infringement, but it’s worse if you’re doing hard time over “Revenge of the Sith.”
